Life's Little Victories

We had a relatively un-extraordinary day, but it is a day like today that I look back and think, "There is no way we could have pulled this off a couple of months ago."

The Caddy, all loaded up with kiddies
Despite the weatherman's call for snow just a couple days earlier, it was an another absolutely beautiful California afternoon.  When Jake got home from work, we loaded the kiddies up into the Cadillac (aka, the stroller) and headed out for a walk.  We had originally planned to head to the post office, Philz and the ATM.  About 1/2 way there, we looked at the clock and realized that our plan may have been too ambitious, so we only went to the ATM, but it was a nice walk nonetheless.  We did not want to push our luck.

When we got home, we slid into the kiddie unloading routine and started in on dinner.  A few minutes into the routine, it became clear that we might actually be able to pull off the family dinner.  Jake got the kids ready to eat, and before we knew it, we were all sitting at the table together for a meal.  Jake and I had to inhale our food to make sure we could get the kids in bed on time, but it was a small victory for us to sit down together as a family for a meal.

Malachy performing for his audience
Malachy was in heaven as family meals are one of his favorite things.  Tegan and Lailah seemed just as pleased and were thoroughly entertained by his slapstick dinner table antics.  It makes it more than a little difficult to teach and enforce table manners when Malachy has his admirers laughing at his every goofy move.

A completely ordinary day, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
